Note To Readers: Upon re-visiting this blog some 10 years after the last post, I was surprised to see how much my perspective has changed over time. That said, I feel the need to issue a disclaimer about some of the earlier posts on this blog, especially those that I wrote in 2008 and 2009, which no longer reflect my views. They do, however, reflect my perspective at the time, as an 18/19-year-old, trying to make sense of modern colonialism after shifting between very different cultural contexts. As life goes on and new experiences are collected, perspectives change.

I made the decision to keep these posts up, unadulterated, as a testament to how I saw things at the time. To do anything else would be to bypass the truth.
